Celebrating 50 Years of Friendship: Japan and Guam Strengthen Ties
The Consulate-General of Japan commemorated 50 years of enduring friendship and cooperation with Guam during a special reception held Wednesday evening at Hotel Nikko Guam. Members of the Guam Nikkei Association also participated in the event, joining dignitaries and community leaders in honoring the shared history and strong ties between Japan and Guam. Guam Nikkei Appreciation Night II - Oct. 10
The Guam Nikkei Association (GNA), with the Guam Community College (GCC) Culinary Program, is hosting its second Appreciation Night event on October 10, 2014, from 4pm-8pm, at the GCC Multi-Purpose Auditorium to raise funds for erecting a monument at the Peace Memorial Park in Yigo. This monument will honor those Issei, or first generation, Japanese who settled in Guam in the early 1900s, but perished during WWII without given proper burial or recognition.
