Celebrating 50 Years of Friendship: Japan and Guam Strengthen Ties
The Consulate-General of Japan commemorated 50 years of enduring friendship and cooperation with Guam during a special reception held Wednesday evening at Hotel Nikko Guam. Members of the Guam Nikkei Association also participated in the event, joining dignitaries and community leaders in honoring the shared history and strong ties between Japan and Guam. Enjoy the following snapshots!
The Guam Nikkei Association, in partnership with the Japan Club of Guam and the Consulate-General of Japan, proudly coordinated the 2026 Sand Sculpture Festival held on March 15, 2026, at Governor Joseph Flores Beach Park. The event brought together youth ages 10–17, organized into teams of three, to creatively showcase CHamoru and Japanese cultures, as well as environmental sustainability, through sand sculpture design. The USCG Auxiliary, active duty Coast Guard personnel, and other community members provided vital support in event coordination, safety oversight, and community engagement, helping ensure a well-organized, safe, and enriching experience for participating teams and their families.
